Rover started as an idea tossed back and forth between a couple of bakers.  It started as a bunch of late night text messages, early morning phone calls, and many discussions over the shaping table at the bakery where we both worked.  The more we talked about it, the more we realized we could, just maybe, actually do it.  Rover Bagel opened it’s doors (or rather, the doors of the pizza shop they were “popping up” in) on September 15, 2016 as a bagel pop up shop in Salem, Massachusetts.  We served wood fired bagels, cream cheese, and sticky buns.  Our customers were awesome.  It ruled.

When we decided to go 100% and open Rover as a brick and mortar, we looked everywhere.  Alec is a Maine native, and was eager to move closer to home.  Fate struck and we found a unique location and a thriving community in Biddeford.  We still have awesome customers.  It still rules.

Rover will continue to offer a small menu of only the items we love to make and to share.  We can’t promise we’ll have all of the same things from day to day, and we can’t promise we won’t run out of bagels some mornings.   That being said, we’re committed to making your experience a great one and we can’t wait to serve you.

We offer bagels and treats all made with top quality flours from Maine Grains and King Arthur.  Our coffee is from Tandem Coffee Roasters, and tea from Little Red Cup Tea Company.  In the coming months we will begin working with local farms to bring even more high quality food onto our plates & yours.

“When you have the best and tastiest ingredients, you can cook very simply and the food will be extraordinary because it tastes like what it is.” – Alice Waters
